Have dirty and disgusting carpets? Thought about steam cleaning them? Did you know there is a big difference between steam cleaning carpets and shampooing them? We have written this little segment to help you understand the difference and to understand the power of steam cleaning your carpets.

Its not too hard to understand the basic principles of the steam cleaner machine. The way it works is that a steam cleaner draws up dirt up to the surface and then wipes it off before it has a chance to stain the carpet. The machine uses a liquid base solvent that evaporates quickly into steam. The machine injects this solvent into the carpet which sucks up the dirt using high pressured air. Once the dirt has been removed the steam cleaner has a vacuum mechanism which makes sure all the dirt has been removed.

Just like anything else, there are many different types of carpet steam cleaners. So which one’s work the best? The first thing to do is research the type of carpet you have to see if it can withstand high heat and won’t melt. Use a very gently liquid solvent as well to make sure you don’t bleach your carpet fibers.

Some steam cleaners are also called carpet extractors and vacuum cleaners. The popular Rug Doctor machines are actually a form of steam cleaner, but they don’t usually use high enough heat to get all the dirt out. Once you find a machine that works with your carpet make sure to follow the instructions and use a mild solvent.

If you want the best results possible for your carpet, steam cleaning is really where you will see the results. Chemical cleaning, shampooing and other methods work ok, but nothing comes close to the effects you get when you steam clean. If you look online there are tons of pictures that truly show the difference.
